IOU is seeking up to 6 wind instrumentalists (wood and brass instruments), to volunteer to work with Yannis Kyriakides and John Butcher on the second performance of this new composition.
Proficient musicians need to be available to take part in the performances at The Civic, Barnsley on
25th and 26th November 2016 and for the rehearsal periods (23rd, 24th and 25th November 2016). The selected musicians will be performing in front of a ticketed audience and it is anticipated that the project will receive significant press interest.
The performance will take place within IOU’s extraordinary, gleaming steel installation Speaking Tubes. The piece will blend the instrumentation with electronic manipulation of sound within in a contemporary musical approach.
If you are selected, this is an unparalleled opportunity for you to gain experience working with the prominent and highly respected international composer Yannis Kyriakides, and well-renowned saxophonist/composer/improviser John Butcher, together with one of the UK’s most adventurous theatre and arts companies. You will gain experience performing experimental, innovative music, performed within an extraordinary sound installation and gain experience working with new technologies. You will be fully credited in the programme notes and you will be paid travel expenses to and from Barnsley.
