Led by one of the original founder members, David Wheeler, IOU has been exciting diverse audiences all over Europe for over 39 years.
IOU has recently successfully secured major funding from the Arts Council of England and principal sponsors to develop our existing base within Dean Clough Mills, Halifax. IOU’s proposed new creation centre will include a studio suitable for producing large scale work, 3 flexible exhibition galleries for public access, and a new Learning and Participation Centre for audiences to engage with us on a deeper level. All these spaces will function as a base for the development of an IOU Art School (from 2018 onwards) and will house an accessible, historically important archive of IOU’s
40 year legacy of work.
Over the next six months we intend to deliver the first phase of our creation centre so that we can:
- Continue to make art that will inspire curiosity and wonder.
- Deliver a widely acclaimed artistic programme which educates, engages and inspires our visitors and participants.
- Archive and exhibit props and exhibitions created over the last 40 years ensuring their long term preservation and legacy.
