In 2007/8 IOU Artistic Director David Wheeler spent three months in Antarctica as part of an Arts Council England and British Antarctic Survey supported residency in Antarctica. The result was a photographic
and sculptural response to this extraordinary environment.
Half Moon is a three dimensional response to David's time in Antarctica with water, ice, compressed air, video projection and rusting fridges combining in an exploration of natural phenomena.Vessel 1 & 2, is a large mechanical sculpture made with rusting steel aquariums, old gas tanks and compressed air.
Stand back and wait for the element of surprise; experience -20º in an elevated ice cavern and glimpse behind-the-scenes operations of support teams in the stunning frozen landscapes.
