IOU's Executive Producer Richard Sobey is working in various locations in China, developing relationships between IOU and other UK and Chinese professionals.  The work focuses on the use of arts in urban and economic development, to explore new ways of working, share skills and experience and develop new ideas.

IOU is working with Chinese partners to present sculpture, sound and video installations as well as create digital works using social media, virtual 3D, augmented reality and GPS positioning technologies.

International Dialogue Project

This pilot project explored communication:  the various innate mechanisms we use to convey meaning to others.   It explored how to overcome challenging circumstances when communicating with people from different cultures.   IOU will use this pilot project to develop further activity, linking children, adults and artists in China with those in the UK.

International Sound Workshops

IOU ran workshops for 14 to 17 year old school children in Beijing to build skills in experimental music composition.   Based on IOU’s Airborne project, the workshops used online composition software and original IOU sound samples to create music that was then published in the Airborne library.
