IOU is a producing organisation with more than 40 years’ experience making original work across art forms including sculpture, music, theatre, interactive digital works and virtual worlds. IOU creates original and unpredictable art works to engage audiences and artists to change perspectives and share in curiosity and wonder.
The majority of our shows and exhibitions are free for everyone to enjoy. Last year welcomed around 17,000 visitors with nearly 50% of those being families and young people. Each year we must raise nearly half of our funding. We depend on the support of companies, individuals and grant making trusts and foundations to help us continue to develop new projects and care for and display our exceptional art installations.
This year, we embark on our most ambitious project yet - our new work called Rear View goes on tour from May 2017 across the UK and aims to engage audiences who've never seen a live theatre performance before. Rear View is a moving adventure that takes place aboard a custom-made double decker open top bus and follows a woman's life - written and performed by poets Cecilia Knapp and Jemima Foxtrot it's an unexpected journey where your city or town is the stage. If you'd like to find out more about this new production and how you may support the development of the IOU bus, get in touch.
We are fundraising to continue developing our creation centre which currently has performance and exhibition spaces, a workshop for producing large scale projects, IOU office space and a new learning centre for local community activities. The centre will function as a base for the development of the IOU Art School from 2018 onwards and will house an archive of IOU’s 40 year history.
If you enjoy the work of IOU, are inspired by our forthcoming projects or want to be involved in the development of the new creation centre in Halifax you can help make this happen by donating your time, money or by helping us spread the word.
Donations and income raised through fundraising initiatives is gifted to IOU - Registered Charity Number 273527.
