R&D funding confirmed for new project Sea to Sea

We’re delighted to announce R&D funding to create a prototype for our next major project.

Sea to Sea will be a new audio experience that takes place on the coast to coast train line from Scarborough to Blackpool. It uses location technology to link stories and information to the view from the carriage window. The content is generated via audiences mobile phones along the journey.

IOU has been awarded the funding by the University of York’s XR Stories fund to research and develop the technology required to present the work that blends storytelling, 360° video and smartphone technology.

The research will be undertaken in collaboration with Leeds Beckett University, Anti Limited with support from Northern to create a short section of the project between Halifax and Hebden Bridge. IOU will work with local writer Jemima Foxtrot to create the stories and sample content.

Follow our progress on social media, or you can sign up to our newsletter.

IOU is looking for regional partner organisations to help develop the project along the train route. For more information email joanne.wain@ioutheatre.org
