Verbatim theatre uses stories and testimonies to create a dialogue, performance or play. It is a powerful form of theatre, because of its ability to tell real stories on stage. But how to start this process?
In this workshop suitable for all ages and abilities, learn interviewing techniques that will help you to get the best out of your interviewee, and then start to explore how you might turn their real stories into your own piece of choreographed theatre.
Emily Brown is a writer, choreographer, and actor. She is the Director of Huddersfield-based Make, DO Theatre, who are currently rehearsing their verbatim/poetry show Little Change, touring West Yorkshire in February 2020. The show focuses on the stories of the homeless community in West Yorkshire and audiences hear real life accounts of what it's like to deal with homelessness first hand.
