IOU presents Speaking Tubes and Vortex at The Civic, Barnsley this Autumn. Speaking Tubes is a sculptural sound installation inspired by the extraordinary sound of vortex rings travelling through the atmosphere at supersonic speed. Made from gleaming galvanised steel, using large air-ducting tubes and giant cones, the sculpture spills out a chorus of sound into special listening zones. Entry to the installation is FREE and is suitable for all ages.

In collaboration with Yannis Kyriakides, IOU presents Vortex, a live experimental music piece performed within the Speaking Tubes installation. Inspired by the astonishing sound of vortex rings travelling through the atmosphere, The performance features  IOU's volunteer musicians who will be playing alongside well known contemporary saxophonist John Butcher. Recommended for all ages. Doors open at 7pm, performance starts at 7.30pm
