Volatile Light is a mesmerising sound and light installation, originally commissioned by Junction Goole.
Featuring an array of specially made machines, LED lights will be attached to rotating arms, levers and cranks to weave a series of eccentric curves, sweeping arcs and hectic scribbles in the darkened gallery space. Utilising an innovative combination of computer software, the lights will then be transformed into a complex mixture of overlapping light trails and patterns. Audiences will experience an intimate, all enveloping combination of light and sound by placing themselves at the centre of a miniature, wrap around universe of moving lights and sounds.
Volatile Light is suitable for audiences of all ages. Young children should be accompanied and supervised by adults as Volatile Light is presented in an environment of low light levels.Volatile Light was originally commissioned by Junction, Goole in 2011. It was created by IOU in collaboration with artists Liz Dees, Dan Morrison, Andy Plant and Jim Bond.
