A three day experiment capturing and transforming natural sound.

  • Image for Airborne

Presented at Junction Goole, September 2010, Airborne began a project to capture sounds produced in the natural world through basic scientific experiments and then manipulate them into a musical soundscape. Over the course of three days, IOU set up and executed a series of experiments using natural materials. These experiments included boiling mud, snapping slate, dripping water onto a hot plate and fast heating liquid nitrogen. The resulting sounds were captured as the experiments unfolded and manipulated to make a unique, ethereal composition.
